About this calculator

The Daily Calorie Calculator (TDEE) estimates your total daily energy expenditure, i.e., the calories your body burns in a day considering your activity level. It combines Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), the energy spent at rest for vital functions, with an activity factor. The result is the calories needed to maintain current weight.

BMR is calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, considering weight, height, age, and sex. For men: 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm), 5 × age (years) + 5. For women: 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm), 5 × age (years), 161. Then BMR is multiplied by an activity factor: sedentary (1.2), light (1.375), moderate (1.55), active (1.725), or very active (1.9).

Use this calculator to plan weight loss, muscle gain, or maintenance diets. For example, to lose weight, consume 300 to 500 calories below TDEE. To gain mass, consume 300 to 500 above. Athletes can adjust according to intense training. It's also useful to understand your metabolism and avoid extreme diets.

Caution: TDEE is an estimate. Factors like body composition, genetics, and medical conditions (e.g., hypothyroidism) can alter actual expenditure. Do not use the result as medical diagnosis.
