About this calculator

The Scaffolding Calculator is an online tool that determines the number of scaffolding modules needed to cover a facade. Simply enter the perimeter of the work area and the desired height. The calculation assumes each module has standard width and height (usually 1.5 m x 1.0 m), rounding up the number of modules in each direction to ensure full coverage.

How it works: the formula modules = ceil(perimeter / module width) × ceil(height / module height) is applied. This means the perimeter is divided by the module width and rounded up, and similarly for height. The product of these two values gives the total modules. Users can adjust module dimensions if needed, but default values are the most common in the market.

When to use? Ideal for construction professionals, painters, or anyone needing to assemble scaffolding for renovations or construction. Useful for quick quotes, avoiding over- or under-ordering material. It also helps with logistical planning, such as transport and storage of modules.

Important considerations: Verify that the actual module dimensions available locally match the standard used in the calculator. Also consider the need for additional work platforms, leveling jacks, and guardrails, which are not accounted for. Total height should include the base and guardrail. For irregular facades, the calculation may need adaptation.

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure the perimeter of the facade?

Measure the total length of all external walls that will receive the scaffolding, including corners. For recesses, consider the horizontal projection.

Can I use the calculator for irregularly shaped facades?

Yes, but the result will be an estimate. For complex shapes, divide the facade into rectangular sections and calculate each separately.

What module dimensions are considered?

By default, width 1.5 m and height 1.0 m. You can change these values according to the scaffolding model you have.

Does the calculator include leveling jacks and casters?

No. The calculator only considers vertical and horizontal modules. Leveling jacks, casters, and other accessories must be calculated separately.

How many extra modules should I buy for safety?

It is recommended to add 5% to 10% to cover losses, adaptations, or unforeseen events. Also check local safety standards.
