The fan, typically 120mm or 140mm, pushes air through the radiator, dissipating heat out of the case.

Besides efficiency, many users prefer air coolers to liquid cooling systems due to higher reliability (no leak risk), simpler maintenance, and lower price. However, the tower's size can be an obstacle in compact cases or with tall RAM modules. It is essential to check the maximum cooler height supported by the case and the clearance to memory slots. Many towers have an asymmetric design to avoid RAM conflicts. Today, dual-tower air coolers (with two fin stacks and two fans) offer performance close to 240mm AIO liquid coolers, with the advantage of being quieter at full load.
