About this calculator
The monthly energy consumption calculator estimates total electricity use from devices in your home, accounting for both standby and active usage. Enter appliance wattage and daily usage hours to get accurate readings. Ideal for users aiming to reduce costs or assess smart electronics efficiency.
The formula is: monthly consumption = (standby wattage × 30 days) + (active wattage × daily hours × 30). For example, a TV using 5W on standby and 80W when active, used 4 hours daily, would consume (5×30) + (80×4×30) = 150 + 9,600 = 9,750Wh/month (9.75 kWh).
Use this tool when purchasing new smart devices, reviewing old appliances' efficiency, or planning smart home installations. It helps identify high-impact items like air conditioners or refrigerators on your electricity bill.
Caveats: exclude intermittent-use appliances (like water heaters) requiring separate calculations. Standby values vary by device quality. Use realistic estimates to avoid under or overestimating actual consumption.
Frequently asked questions

Do I need to convert watts to kilowatts?
The calculator automatically converts watts to kilowatts. Just enter values in watts.
Does consumption vary by region?
Yes, but the calculation is based on kWh. Final results may change depending on local tariffs.
Can I use it for scheduled devices?
For programmed devices, adjust usage hours according to actual frequency.
